526 Hill Street

Built in 2001, homeowners Dan Trzos and Randy Seay, along with son son Austin Seay-Trzos, took special care during construction to make sure their new home became a seamless addition to the many historic homes in the neighborhood.

As you enter the front picket gate, notice the large evergreen tree at the front – a magnificent deodar cedar that has grown to this height in only six years. As you approach the house, you’ll also see that the front porch, in keeping with the style of the American Four-Square, runs the entire width of the house.

Upon entering the front door, the foyer, which is open to the second floor, features a C-shaped staircase with handrails adorned with fresh evergreens, silk ribbons and hundreds of white lights. The empire style entry table, circa 1860, blends perfectly with the oversized crystal chandelier and the black and white checkerboard marble floor, all completing the traditional look with a touch of Regency style. The first of many of Randy's original pastel paintings to be seen throughout the house is displayed here in the entry. To the left of the entry foyer is the TV den, featuring a built-in media center.

Through the archway is the living room that features a double mantle fireplace. Like the foyer, the living room is open to the second floor gallery. The home also boasts a built-in wet bar, great for entertaining, while the color palette of golden tan, cream and white is accented with bold punches of deep burgundy.

The steamer trunk from 1897, serving as a lamp table, belongs to Randy's grandfather. The dining room table and sideboards, as well as the china armoire, were Dan's grandparents and were brought here from Saginaw, Michigan. The kitchen is kept cozy on chilly evenings with a fireplace of its own, while around the corner is the home office.??

Upstairs, Austin's bedroom is painted his favorite color (a bright red) and reflects his interest in sports and music. While most of the art in the room is Randy's, Austin does have a couple of his own pieces on display. Down the hall is the master suite, which also has a fireplace plus a bath featuring a whirlpool garden tub and built-in coffee bar. Don’t miss what’s up the next flight of stairs – the third floor guest suite, appointed with skylights which allow ample sunlight (and starlight) to flood the room.

Dan, Randy and Austin look forward to seeing you at their home on this year’s tour, and wish everyone a joyous holiday season.
